How do I sign in?

Are you trying to sign-in to your online or download H&R Block Account? This article will walk you through the process for both. 

Online Software

Navigate to H&R Block’s online software’s home page - https://2017.hrblockonline.ca/#/login. Enter your username (typically your email address) and your password, and click Sign In.

Note: You have 5 attempts to sign into your account otherwise you’ll be locked out of your account for 20 minutes – a security measure we’ve taken to ensure no one is trying to hack your account. Unfortunately, nothing can be done to override this lock-out period. You can try to sign in again after 20 minutes.

Download Software

Before you begin: Make sure you have the 2017 H&R Block download software launched on your computer, and you have an active Internet connection. You’ll see a green square on your computer’s taskbar when you have the program running.

Enter your username (typically your email address) and your password, and click Sign In.

I need help signing in

If you forgot your username or password, click the Having trouble signing in? link on the Sign In page, of either the online or the download program. You’ll find yourself here:

Select the situation that applies to you and click Next.

I'm not sure what my password is

You’ll need to enter your username, and then answer your security question. Once we’ve confirmed that you’re the account holder, you’ll receive an email to both your primary and alternative email addresses with instructions on how to reset your password.

Note: If you can’t answer your security question correctly, you can’t login. You’ll need to create a new account.

I forgot my username

You’ll need to enter the email address you used to create your 2017 H&R Block online tax software account. You can enter up to 3 email addresses that you think are associated with your account. If one of the email addresses you entered matches with your account, you’ll receive an email with your username and a link to sign in to your account.

Note: If you don’t know the email address that’s associated with your H&R Block account, or if you no longer have access to that email address, you’ll need to create a new account.

Why do I need to answer a security question?

When you set up your account, H&R Block’s tax software asks you to choose a security question for you to answer whenever you sign in. While this does add an extra step to the sign-in process, having a security question provides an additional layer of security that helps protect your personal information.

Unfortunately, if you forget the answer to your security question, there’s no way to retrieve your account on your own. Please call 1-800-HRBLOCK (1-800-472-5625) and speak to a member of our Support Team; they’ll provide you with the pre-selected hint that you wrote for yourself when you created your account.

If you still can’t remember the answer to your security question even after speaking to a member of the Support Team, you’ll need to create a new account.
