You’ll see the following error message in H&R Block’s tax software if, you reported the disposition of qualified small business corporation shares (QSBCS) on your Schedule 3: Capital gains (or losses) in 2017, but didn’t enter the reserve amount related to your most recent disposition of QSBCS on the T2017: Summary of reserves on dispositions of capital property page:
Since you entered a 2017 reserve for dispositions of QSBCS to your child after March 18, 2007 and all other dispositions of QSBCS after 2012, that is more than the same amount from 2016 and you reported a 2017 gain (or loss) from the disposition of QSBCS on your Schedule 3, you need to enter the amount of reserve for your most recent disposition of QSBCS. Let’s take a moment to go back to your T2017 page and enter that amount. [error code: 310]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, return to the T2017 page in H&R Block’s tax software and under the heading, Dispositions of qualified small business corporation shares (QSBCS), enter the reserve amount for your most recent disposition of QSBCS in the following field:
If the amounts you entered on the 2 previous lines include a reserve from at least 2 dispositions of QSBCS (and one of those reserves is from a disposition after 2013), enter the amount of the reserve reported on the previous line that's from your most recent disposition of shares
Note: You can find the T2017 page under the PENSIONS AND INVESTMENTS icon of the PREPARE tab.
