TP-1029.8.33.6-V: Tax Credit for an On-the-job Training Period

If you’re a business owner in Québec, you might be able to claim the tax credit for an on-the-job-training period for any eligible training expenses you paid during the year.

This refundable credit can be claimed if the expenses were incurred during a new hire’s specified training period. Typically, these expenses include the wages of the traineean apprentice, or the supervisor responsible for training the new hire.

Where do I claim this? 

Follow these steps in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software:

Before you begin, make sure you told us that you lived in Québec on December 31, 2017. You’ll also need to complete the TP-1029.8.33.6-V form from the Revenu Québec website and enter the amount shown on line 29, 38, or 70 (as applicable) in the designated fields on the Other Québec tax credits page.

  1. On the PREPARE tab, click the OTHER icon. You'll find yourself here:

  2. Under the SPECIFIC CREDITS FOR YOUR PROVINCE heading, select the checkbox labelled Other Québec tax credits, then click Continue.

  3. When you arrive at the page for Other Québec tax credits, enter your information into the tax software.
