Error code 146

You’ll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software if, you’re filing a return separate from your spouse or common-law partner and you entered a provincial tuition amount that your spouse is transferring to you that’s more than the maximum allowed:

The provincial amount your spouse or common-law partner is transferring for his/her tuition amounts can’t be more than ${1}. Please correct the amount you entered. [error code: 146]

How do I fix this?

To correct the error, return to the Your spouse’s return page and enter the provincial tuition amount that your spouse wants to transfer to you, as shown on his/her provincial Schedule 11 of their 2017 tax return or on the relevant section of their T2202ATL11ATL11B, or TL11C. This amount can’t be more than the maximum amount allowed for your province or territory of residence.

Note: The Your spouse’s return page can be found under the REQUIRED icon on the PREPARE tab.
