You’ll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software if, on the Rental property income (T776/TP-128-V) page, you indicated that you lived in the property and entered your personal portion for eligible expenses but didn’t enter the total amount paid in the year:
On the Rental property income page, you entered the personal portion for each expense, but didn’t enter the total amount paid. Let’s go back and enter the total amount paid for each eligible expense. [error code: RQ291]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, return to the Rental property income page and enter the total amount paid for each eligible expense. The personal portion of these expenses can’t be higher than the total amount paid.
Note: The Rental property income page can be found under the OTHER icon on the PREPARE tab.
