You’ll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software if, on the British Columbia logging tax credit page, you entered your net logging income for the year but didn’t enter the logging tax you paid:
You entered your net logging income for the British Columbia logging credit, but didn’t enter the logging tax you paid. Let’s go back and enter this amount. If you didn’t pay any logging tax, enter 0. [error code: 402]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, return to the British Columbia logging tax credit page and enter the logging tax you paid. You can find the amount of logging tax paid on line 770 of your logging tax return (FIN 542S or FIN 542P form), which you need to download and complete from the British Columbia government website before claiming this tax credit. If you didn’t pay any logging tax for the year, enter 0.
Note: The British Columbia logging tax credit page can be found under the EMPLOYMENT icon on the PREPARE tab.
