You’ll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software if your self-employment income was from a province or territory other than the one you lived in on December 31, 2017:

The province or territory of self-employment must be the same as the province or territory you lived in on December 31st, 2017. [error code: 173]

How do I fix this?

To fix this error, return to the IN THIS SECTION page under the PREPARE tab and select the correct province or territory of your self-employment. This must be the same as the province or territory you lived in on December 31, 2017.
