How does the widget that links to the help centre work?

H&R Block’s 2017 tax software has an exciting new feature this year – the Help widget! The Help widget, found on all pages of the tax software, provides you easy and quick access to tax-related information from H&R Block’s Online Help Centre without you having to leave the software or switch between multiple screens. Simply, enter the tax topic you need more information on and the widget will pull up the top H&R Block help articles related to this topic.

Note: The widget language is based on the language your browser displays information in. If your browser (such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer) always displays in English, the Help widget will show your search results in English. The same is true if your browser natively displays information in French.

How do I use the Help widget?

Follow these steps to get answers to your tax questions:

    1. Click the Help widget icon at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

    2. In the search box that opens, enter the topic you want more information on and click the Search button.

    3. You’ll get a list of the top 3 articles related to the topic you entered. Click the View more button if you want to see a longer list.

    4. Click the name of the help article you want to see. The article will open in the same widget window and you can scroll through to find answers to any questions you might have on this topic.

Note: You can click the View original article button at the end of the article to see it in the H&R Block Online Help Centre. Here, you can switch between the English and French version of the article by clicking the language in the toggle on the top of the page.
