How to clear your cookies so that you can log in to the Canada Revenue Agency’s AFR service

If you tried to log in to the CRA’s Auto-fill my return service using the wrong username and/or password, this information will be cached for future visits and will prevent you from logging in.

Before you can successfully log in, you’ll need to clear certain cookies from your browser. You can do this by following the steps below for your browser:

Google Chrome

  1. In the top right-hand corner of the window, click the icon with the three vertical dots.
  2. Click Settings, then click the arrow next to Advanced.
  3. Select Privacy and security, then click the arrow next to Content settings.
  4. Under Cookies, click See all cookies and site data.
  5. Select the following site from the list and click the Recycle bin icon to remove the cookies: 
    apps-ct.cra-arc.gc.ca

When you return to H&R Block’s tax software, the cached information will no longer appear on the CRA Login page.

Internet Explorer (v. 11)

  1. Click the Tools icon located in the top right-hand corner of the window.
  2. Click Internet Options to open the settings window.
  3. Under the Browsing history section, under the General tab, click the Delete button.
  4. Select the checkbox labelled Cookies and website data, and click Delete.

When you return to H&R Block’s tax software, the cached information will no longer appear on the CRA Login page.

Firefox for Windows

  1. In the top right-hand corner of the window, click the icon with the three horizontal lines.
  2. Click the Options icon.
  3. In the left-hand navigation bar, click Privacy & Security.
  4. Under History, click the remove individual cookies link.
  5. Enter the following domain name in the search bar or select the URL from the folder window: apps-ct.cra-arc.gc.ca

  6. Click Remove Selected.

When you return to H&R Block’s tax software, the cached information will no longer appear on the CRA Login page.

Safari

  1. Click Safari in the navigation menu and select Preferences.
  2. Click the Privacy icon.
  3. Under Cookies and website data, click Details.
  4. Select the following site from the list and click Removeapps-ct.cra-arc.gc.ca

When you return to H&R Block’s tax software, the cached information will no longer appear on the CRA Login page.

Mobile iOS devices

  1. Open Settings and tap Safari.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Advanced.
  3. Tap Website Data.
  4. In the upper right-hand corner, tap Edit then tap the red (-) minus symbol next to the website you wish to remove cookies from.
  5. Tap Delete to remove the cookies.

When you return to H&R Block’s tax software, the cached information will no longer appear on the CRA Login page.
