You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2017 tax software if you entered more than the maximum number of months (12 combined) in box 21 and box 23 on the T4A(P) page:

The total number of months in box 21 and box 23 on the T4A(P) page shouldn’t be more than 12. If the total of these boxes on your slip(s) exceeds 12, please choose for box 21 the actual number of months you received disability benefits and for box 23 the actual number of months you received retirement benefits. [error code: 221]

How do I fix this?

Enter the actual number of months you received disability benefits for in box 21, and the actual number of months you received retirement benefits for in box 23, on the Statement of Canada Pension Plan benefits page. You’ll find this page in the QUICK ENTRY tab.
