You’ll see the following error message on the ERRORS page in H&R Block’s tax software if you began entering your information on the Employment expenses page, but didn’t enter your 2017 employment start date:
You started completing the Employment expenses page but didn't enter the date you started your employment in 2017. Let’s take a moment to go back and enter your employment start date for the year. If you’ve been working for the same company since 2016, enter 2017-01-01. If you don't have any employment expenses to claim and want to remove the Employment expenses page from your return, click the DELETE link on the Employment expenses summary page. [error code: RQ277]
How do I fix this?
To fix this error, return to the Employment expenses page in H&R Block’s tax software and enter the date in 2017 you started working for the employer described earlier on this page. If you were working for this employer last year, simply enter 2017-01-01 as your start date for 2017. If you accidentally indicated that you had work-related expenses to claim and want to remove this page from your return, click the DELETE link on the Employment expenses summary page.
Note: You can find the Employment expenses page under the EMPLOYMENT icon of the PREPARE tab.
