You’ll see the following error message on the ERRORS page in H&R Block’s tax software if you began entering your information on the Employment expenses page, but didn’t enter your 2017 employment end date:
You started completing the Employment expenses page but didn't enter the date your employment ended in 2017. Let’s take a moment to go back and enter your employment end date for the year. If you’re still working for the same company, enter 2017-12-31. If you don't have any employment expenses to claim and want to remove the Employment expenses page from your return, click the DELETE link on the Employment expenses summary page. [error code: RQ278]
How do I fix this?
To fix this error, return to the Employment expenses page in H&R Block’s tax software and enter the last day in 2017 you worked for the employer described earlier on this page. If you’re still working for this employer, simply enter 2017-12-31 as your end date for 2017. If you accidentally indicated that you had work-related expenses to claim and want to remove this page from your return, click the DELETE link on the Employment expenses summary page.
Note: You can find the Employment expenses page under the EMPLOYMENT icon of the PREPARE tab.
